[ VISION & MISSION ]

our path

We exist to make residential real estate slow, considered, and intergenerational again.

vision

To be the residential brokerage that families return to for three generations — the one a daughter calls, twenty years after her mother bought her first home through us.

mission

To represent people who treat their home as a long-term decision — and to give them, every time, a standard of work the industry has spent two decades trying to forget.

[ FOREWORD ]

Marby was founded in 2009 to represent residential real estate the way it deserves to be, slowly, attentively, and only for as many clients as we can know by name. Seventeen years later, that has not changed. The list has grown. The standard has not.

First milestone

$100M in aggregate sales. The first hire — Theo Marchetti, a former architect — joins as second advisor.

2011

San Francisco

Pacific Heights office opens in a restored carriage house. Theo takes the West Coast practice.

2014

London

A third office opens in a Notting Hill mews. Imogen Hart leads, after eleven years at an interiors magazine.

2018

The Journal

Marby’s editorial publication launches — market notes, essays, and quarterly letters, written in-house.

2022

Now

Seventy advisors. Three cities. $2.4B in aggregate sales. Eighty-four percent of work comes from referral.

[ 01 ]

a home is not a transaction

It is a decade-long decision, and it should be made by people, not by algorithms or alerts. Our job is to slow the decision down, not to speed it up.

[ 02 ]

discretion is a practice, not a favour

Roughly half of what changes hands at Marby never reaches a public portal. We don’t talk about closings unless asked, and we don’t ask to be quoted in the press.

[ 03 ]

marketing is the last thing, not the first

We start with the building. Then the photographs. Then the words. We market least and tend to sell closest to ask — because the work was done before the listing went live.
